Guest Post Guidelines

Everyone will consider retirement eventually and everyone should be able to enjoy a hard earned retirement.  My concern and reason for starting this website is those people who live to a ripe old age but don’t retire with a ton of money and have to find ways to supplement their income.

No one has a corner on all the good information and I’ve learned over the years that the real experts are the people who do the job or live the experience.  I’m sure you have unique experience or information that you could share that might help other people have a successful retirement.

Consider writing a guest post for this website.

Examples of some topics could include supplementing or increasing retirement income, home based businesses, side hustles, investing or eliminating debt.  I’m sure there are many more I haven’t thought of.

Original articles should be 700 – 1000 words, written in conversational tone and present practical advice and useful tips. Citations or links should be included to identify sources of information. H2 and H3 headings, lists and bullet points should be used when appropriate.

By submitting an article you confirm that it is your original work and has not been published previously on any other website.  To avoid duplicate content I retain rights to guest articles posted on this website.  This means that the same exact article can’t be posted on any other website to avoid having Google downgrade either site.

Images can be included if they contribute to the article and have appropriate attribution.

I use Copyscape to check guest articles and my own articles for duplicate online content and to avoid plagiarism.

I reserve the right to reject any article I feel is not a good fit for my websites or request revisions to the article.

I also reserve the right to change these guidelines at any time.

Byline, Bio and Links

Include your byline and a link to your website. You should include a short bio (about 200 words) with a link back to your website at the bottom of the article.

Limit the number of internal and external links in the body to no more than five links.  Links should be to helpful resources and/or appropriate articles and not self-serving.  Please do not include affiliate links in the article, bio or the byline.  I reserve the right to remove what I consider inappropriate links in the article.Format Articles should be submitted in Microsoft word or OpenOffice formats. I use Apache OpenOffice for writing and editing. Images are great, but must have appropriate attribution.

I do reserve the right to suggest edits or to revise your article to correct spelling and/or awkward sentence structure.

I also reserve the right to reject and not post your article or request that you rewrite the article to fit my audience. You may reject my requests if you like.

    Article Submission

Submit article ideas with “guest post” in the subject line to admin@marshallcrum.com or to theretiredoldguy@gmail.com

I’m retired and I probably don’t check my email as often as I should.  But I’ll respond as soon as possible but not usually later than three days after submission.

Accepted articles will be listed as a menu item under my resources category and posted as my landing page for a month.
